Tax and Compliance Specialist

Summary

The Tax and Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the organization’s tax obligations, ensuring compliance with global and local tax laws and regulations. This position involves developing and implementing tax strategies, assessing potential tax risks, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax compliance, financial reporting, and regulatory adherence, with experience managing taxes for multi-entity, global organizations. Experience with the Finance and Operations (F&O) module in Dynamics 365 and related tools is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee sales, VAT/GST, Payroll and business tax compliance for multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely filings across jurisdictions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential tax and compliance risks, implementing strategies to minimize exposure.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to design and implement tax policies and strategies that align with the organization’s financial goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare for and manage tax audits, reviews and assessments, while liaising with external auditors and tax authorities as needed.
  • Manage tax-related correspondence and notices.
  • Calculate tax provisions for financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Identify and implement tax-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting related to tax obligations, working closely with the finance team to integrate tax considerations into overall financial planning.
  • Develop and implement global tax strategies, ensuring alignment with the organization’s objectives and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for tax authorities during audits, inquiries, and examinations.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors, auditors, and legal counsel to address complex tax issues and ensure compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, especially the F&O module in Dynamics 365, and extensive experience in tax compliance, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Deep understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, with experience managing taxes for multi-entity, global organizations.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a focus on identifying and mitigating tax risks and ensuring compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-experts and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in tax filings and financial reports.
