Staff Accountant

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records through various accounting tasks, reconciliations, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial accuracy. Experience with the Finance and Operations (F&O) module in Dynamics 365 is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Recording and Reporting: 

  • Prepare, examine, and analyze financial statements, reports, and records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and conducting account reconciliations.

General Ledger Maintenance:

  • Maintain and update the general ledger by accurately recording and classifying financial transactions.
  • Reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies, and investigate any variances to maintain accurate financial data.

Bank Reconciliations:

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly addressed.

Fixed Asset Management:

  • Assist in tracking, recording, and reconciling fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with reporting standards for fixed assets.

Expense Analysis:

  • Analyze expenses against budgets, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget variance reports, offering detailed explanations where necessary.


Compliance and Audit Support:

  • Provide necessary documentation, reconciliations, and explanations to support external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

Financial Data Integrity:

  • Conduct regular audits and quality checks to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the system.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the accounting department.
  • Assist in developing and implementing streamlined processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments to gather financial information, resolve discrepancies, and provide financial insights and support.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar accounting role, with a strong track record in managing financial processes.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and general ledger management.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in financial analysis, reconciliations, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, especially the F&O module in Dynamics 365, and experience with financial tools and software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to financial reporting and compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the flexibility to adapt to changing financial landscapes and challenges.
  • Certification in accounting or finance (e.g., CPA, CMA) is a strong advantage.

  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed to meet project deadlines or handle urgent tasks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting: Ability to remain seated for extended periods during work.
  • Lifting: Capacity to lift equipment or tools weighing up to 20 pounds.
